The ventilated silo can be used for “keeping” and “sweating” grain for two hours after drying, followed by blowing with cold air in order to remove the most difficult to remove internal moisture. This technology allows drying grain in a grain dryer not up to 14%, but up to 16%, which significantly reduces the drying time and, consequently, energy consumption.
Ventilated silos:
- Designed for long / short-term storage of grain crops with a moisture content of up to 24% while maintaining its seed and food qualities.
- Have a ventilated structure, but fight against pests (birds, rodents, etc.)
- May stand alone or be a single body structure.
- Loading can be either pneumatic or mechanical.
- Unloading is done by simple gravity flow.

We invite you to consider in detail what a ventilated grain storage silo is and how it works in order to have a stable idea of this design. The ventilated silo is a stationary cylindrical plant with a conical bottom and a concentrically located air distribution pipe. Sheets of the body and the air distribution pipe represent a stamped perforated sheet with one-sided bending of their galvanized steel. The base serves as a support for the housing and the air distribution pipe. From above, the body is closed with a cone-shaped roof in the central opening of which a loading device is inserted to ensure uniform loading of the silo into the hopper.
To ensure ventilation of grain when the silo is not completely filled, a floating valve with a rope-block lifting system is provided. The air valve regulates the air supply to the required grain layer. The air is supplied to the air distribution pipe by a fan. During the grain drying process, the gates are closed and the top cover is open. Hot air enters the lower cut of the central air duct and then passes through the ventilation holes into the grain. After that, the air rests against the bridge, again passes through the thickness of the grain and enters the cut located between the gates, and only later enters the mechanism. This air movement provides an appropriate drying mode for the seeds. Therefore, this mechanism is related to the agricultural structure, and its function is to dry grains of different crops, the moisture content of which is too high. In a ventilated silo, the air distribution system is presented in the form of a curl from a combination of successive chains of air distribution pipes. They are located along the height of the cylinder and form three “regions” of drying, moreover, each of the nozzles is equipped with a special mechanism that is needed to change the pressure of the coolant. In the device, each “area” for drying, which we talked about earlier, must be equipped with a moisture control sensor. This is necessary so that the ventilated silo can provide effective drying of grain crops.
